The Lola Mk6 GT was a racing car with a production run of only three units, built between 1962 and 1963 by British car manufacturer Lola Cars.With its 289 cu in (4.74 L) Ford V8 engine, the Mk6 GT was the first mid-mounted, high displacement V8-powered Grand Touring car, a chassis arrangement that had been used, up until that time, only on formula cars and smaller, more affordable GTs.

The sleek Lola Mk6 GT profile was the creation of John Frayling, who had previously worked on the Lotus Elite. Through tight corners, the lighter Lola has none of the pendulous feel of the hefty GT40 - no wonder Broadley became frustrated with Ford engineers who insisted on a stronger, heavier, steel monocoque.

Lola's clean sheet approach, powered by Ford's then-new 260-cubic-inch smallblock V8, made the Mk6 quite potent, with 350 horses and plenty of torque making its magnesium wheels spin fast enough ...

Lola boss, Eric Broadley, decided to quit top flight single seater racing and embark on a major Sports car programme for 1963 instead. His pioneering Mk6 GT was the result and, in true Lola fashion, it mixed cutting edge design with handsome looks. The Mk6 was the first GT racing car to employ a mid-mounted American V8.

That year, Ford invited Grant's Lola MK6 GT to sit beside the new 2016 Ford GT at the Monterey Motor Week, in California. In 2017, Grant and his Lola were invited by Lord March to attend Goodwood Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival in West Sussex, England.
