This is the term given to people who use heroin on an intermittent basis. The fundamental 'rule' of chipping is to set a schedule and only use the drug based on the strict agreement you have made with yourself. Examples of such schedules are using the drug once or twice a week only, or being on it for 8 hours every 3 days.
