Patrick Bouvier Kennedy (August 7–9, 1963) was the youngest child of United States President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. His elder siblings were Caroline, John Jr., and Arabella.
Born prematurely, Kennedy lived just over 39 hours before dying from complications of hyaline membrane disease (HMD), after desperate attempts to save him failed.[1] His infant death left the first family and nation in mourning. It also brought HMD, now known as infantile respiratory distress syndrome, into the public consciousness, inspiring further research.
